La Nuit des Temps 2021

Tags :

The “Nuit des Temps” is a general public event organized jointly by the Société Française de Physique, the CNRS and the CEA.

After the Night of Light in 2015, the Night of gravitational waves in 2017 and the Night of Antimatter in 2019, the Night of Time will be held on March 10, 2021 in several cities in France simultaneously. Like previous editions, the operation involves mobilizing schoolchildren around the theme of Time as well as a high-impact festive evening.

A festive evening:

On the other hand, a very resounding evening will be organized in Paris at the cinema “Le Grand Rex" (the largest cinema in Europe, 2700 seats) and in more than 25 cities in France – a record due to the highly interdisciplinary nature. time – all interconnected!

The evening’s program, which systematically brings together several thousand people in total, will consist of a scientific conference on the different aspects of Time followed by a debate, virtual visits to emblematic sites or laboratories devoted to Time, quizzes on this theme and very multidisciplinary round tables on the different aspects of Time. Uncertainty still hangs over the possibility of organizing this evening in person, of course, but virtual variants are planned so that the party takes place even in difficult sanitary conditions. The list of competitions will also be awarded on this occasion !

Competitions open to all:

The various competitions launched on the occasion of the Night of Times aim to make students aware of the richness and diversity of the various scientific aspects related to time and its nature. Pupils, from primary to preparatory classes, alone or in groups, with or without the help of their teachers, are encouraged to take one or more of these contests which will run until February 2021. Four types of contests are offered: experimental, literary, artistic and philosophical. To be won: trips, visits to sites or laboratories emblematic of cutting-edge time-related research, as well as subscriptions to popular science journals. The winning projects will be widely exhibited.

  • To participate, registration for these competitions is mandatory and open until December 20, 2020
