Applications, Research and Characterization at the Nanometric Scale (ARCEN)

The development of nanosciences and nanotechnologies at uB is the result of a continuous investment strategy supported by the Regional Council of Burgundy and the CPER. A major milestone in this strategy is the ARCEN technological platform building inaugurated in 2009. Implemented within the Carnot de Bourgogne Interdisciplinary laboratory, UMR CNRS 6303, supported by the CNRS and the CEA, the ARCEN project has equipped the campus with uB in Dijon on the one hand, very efficient means for characterizing condensed matter and, on the other hand, autonomous micro / nano-manufacturing capacities.

Very high performance transmission electron microscopes form the heart of the very high resolution material characterization device (ARCEN / CARAC). ARCEN is also equipped with other technologies for characterizing materials that are inseparable from nanofabrication methods: scanning electron microscopes, atomic force microscopes, tunneling electron microscope, optical microscopes with large digital apertures and scanning near field optical microscopes.
