QantEdu France project: the laboratoire ICB engaged in the quantum revolution

Tags :

The QuanTEdu France project is part of the second quantum revolution, the objective of which is not only to use quantum effects, but also to control them. This second generation should make it possible to considerably increase the power and speed of digital calculations, to improve the transfer of secure data or to develop measuring devices with unprecedented precision. The possibilities of these new technologies are so great that they are expected to have major effects on the economy and society in the years to come.

The power of quantum control techniques is illustrated in the figure below where a printer with Bose-Einstein condensates trapped in an optical network is made.

Led nationally by the University of Grenoble-Alpes and locally by Dominique Sugny, University Professor at the Carnot Interdisciplinary Laboratory in Burgundy. This project with a budget of €56 million over 5 years (€1 million for the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region) will finance both thesis scholarships, the creation and development of new courses at Master’s level, but also MOOC to facilitate and develop the learning of quantum technologies. Outreach actions aimed at high school and university students will also be set up to popularize these jobs of the future.
