La Nuit des Temps 2022

Tags :

It is with enthusiasm that the Société Française de Physique, the CNRS, the CEA, in association with the Société Française d'Optique and the Société Chimique de France, have decided to continue “La Nuit des Temps" in 2022.

This involves performing an experiment that demonstrates one of four aspects:

1A) Natural phenomena taking place over very long periods of time

1B) Natural phenomena taking place over very short periods of time

1C) Phenomena related to the irreversible character (or not) of time

1D) Realization of time measurement devices

All types of projects are eligible as long as they include a measurement, an estimate of the precision with which it is carried out and, depending on the level, a study of the main parameters governing the observed phenomenon.

Two challenges are also launched, for each level, primary, middle school, high school, preparatory classes and students:

Make the most accurate pendulum with a period of one second. The measurement of accuracy is the responsibility of the authors of the project.
Carry out the measurement of the phenomenon as briefly as possible.

Read the rules

It is about writing a short story or a comic strip about the nature of time or its passage.
