Matter waves under optimal control

In collaboration with the group of experimenters of Professor David Guéry-Odelin in Toulouse, Dominique Sugny, professor at the University of Burgundy and researcher at the Interdisciplinary Carnot laboratory in Burgundy recently showed how to optimally control the dynamics of a condensate of Bose-Einstein using an optical lattice whose temporal variation of the phase can be manipulated precisely.

This work has been published in the prestigious journal on quantum technologies, PRXQUANTUM. The experimental precision of the control allowed the creation of a “BEC printer" (see figure). This study opens up many perspectives on the use of this type of approach in quantum simulation, quantum information and quantum measurement.
