NEBULA : plasmonic transceiver platform
The team of researchers from the ICB laboratory (UMR 6303 CNRS / UBFC) led by Alexandre Bouhelier (manager of the ARCEN Carnot technological platform) is a partner of the European s-Nebula project –

The NEBULA project (Neuro-augmented 112 Gbauds CMOS plasmonic transceiver platform for intra and inter-DCI applications) is a collaborative project on the development of a CMOS plasmonic transceiver platform.
The objectives of this project are multiple and aims in particular to provide the basis for a common transceiver technological platform with ultra-high bandwidth capabilities offered by a CMOS-compatible toolbox and designed to meet performance metrics. , cost and energy in both co-inter-DCI coherent and intra-DCI ASICs.
Launched in January 2020, this project will invest in the established benchmarks of bandwidth and energy saving plasmonic modulator solutions as well as the functional digital processing portfolio of neuromorphic optical reservoir compute engines to paint the landscape of the next disruption in the evolution of transceivers, adapting them to System-in -Set of package prototypes that can intersect the difficult framework of inter and intra-DCI segments.
