ICB PhD student wins best poster award at AFA annual days

Tags :

Quentin Pujol, 3rd year doctoral student in Interfaces Department (Laboratoire ICB), won the prize for the best poster during the annual days of the French Adsorption Association (AFA) which took place in Nancy on January 26th and 27th. This association brings together around a hundred researchers working in the field of adsorption in France.

My thesis work is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and by the Bourgogne Franche-Comté region. The objective of this project is, on the one hand, to propose a process for depolluting ambient air in which an adsorbent is used to capture volatile organic compounds (VOCs) under realistic conditions: low concentration of VOCs (<100 ppm) and in the presence of humidity. On the other hand, the complete catalytic oxidation of the compounds desorbed during the regeneration of the adsorbent will be carried out thanks to a catalyst placed within the same reactor.

I have presented at the 12th Days of the French Association of Adsorption a poster entitled “Optimization of the desorption of toluene with a view to its catalytic oxidation" taking up the effects on the desorption of different parameters (ramp and maximum temperature, flow and flow composition, etc.) since the adsorption-desorption/catalytic oxidation combination in the same reactor leads to specific constraints which are relatively little described in the literature. The jury composed of Conchi Ania, DR CNRS CEMHTI Orléans, Jocelyne Brendlé, Prof. IS2M Mulhouse, and Denys Grekov, McF IMT Atlantique Nantes valued my work and my innovative approaches by awarding me the prize for the best poster.
