- [caption id="attachment_32888" align="alignnone" width="300"] crédit: A. Chezière[/caption] I was born in Charleville-Mézières, France, in 1978. After graduating from the engineering school ESIREM, I received the Master's degree in 2000 and the PhD degree in physics for studies of ultra-short pulse propagation at 160-Gb/s in dispersion managed optical fibre lines in 2004, from the University of Bourgogne, Dijon, France. In December 2004, I became Research Engineer in the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Department of Physics, ICB Institute. Since then, I am carrying out research on nonlinear effects in optical fibres and ultrahigh bit rate optical communications, in particular on the all-optical control of light state-of-polarization and more recently on Kerr resonators and associated optical frequency comb generation. I have been the PI of numerous national and regional grants. From 2012 to 2017, I was awarded an ERC starting grant: PETAL project. I have received the accreditation to supervise research (HDR) in 2019 and I have supervised so far 12 PhDs or postdocs. In 2020, I was awarded at one of the highest level of Research Engineer (IRHC). I have published more than 125 peer-reviewed articles and over 150 contributions in conference proceedings, 3 book chapters and 4 patents. Myh-index is 36 in Google scholar for >5800 citations. I am regularly contacted to peer-review articles for different publisher groups as well as scientific proposals for funding agencies. I have been a member of the CLEO US committee from 2017 to 2019. From 2020 to 2022, I held an invited researcher position at the University of Auckland.

Wall-IN project (2021-2026)
CNRS Wall-IN project The Wall-In project (Confining walls-of-Light in nonlinear Kerr resonators) is a French-New Zealand International Research Project in Photonics funded by the CNRS and lead by J. Fatome from the ICB laboratory and S. Coen from the University of Auckland. Summary: Optical frequency combs are coherent light sources which emit a broad and coherent spectrum made of discrete and evenly spaced frequency lines. They are widely used as optical frequency rulers and have led to major advances in numerous fields of science such as spectroscopy, metrology, astronomy or high-capacity optical communications. The generation of such optical frequency combs in nonlinear Kerr resonators is mostly based on the emergence of robust, short and bright temporal structures, called dissipative cavity solitons. First observed in an optical fibre ring by Coen and co-workers in 2010, cavity solitons have attracted growing interest over the past decade after being identified as key elements for optical frequency combs generation in integrated microresonators. However, cavity solitons are mostly restricted to optical platforms characterized by anomalous group velocity dispersion, which dramatically limits the range of available spectral bands and thus potential applications. Indeed, recalling that numerous materials are characterized by strong normal dispersion, in particular in the mid-infrared where molecules provide strong absorptions, there is a growing interest in the generation of short temporal and robust structures in normally dispersive Kerr resonators. In the framework of the Wall-IN project, we propose to combine the complementary expertise of two international leading groups of the nonlinear waveguide optics community (ICB and University of Auckland) to extend the applications of optical frequency combs and associated dissipative temporal structures in normally dispersive Kerr resonators. Our strategy is based on the multimode and especially the vectorial nature of light propagating in Kerr resonators so as to exploit the cross-coupling effects between copropagating beam components. - communications:
