Molecular Spectroscopy, Collisional Processes and Applications

The development of theoretical and computing tools to model molecular systems with a high symmetry constitutes a specific expertise that is well-recognized by the scientific community.

The present studies concern the elaboration of models to describe intramolecular and intermolecular interactions, as well as the molecule - radiation interaction (excited states, collisional processes, multiphoton processes). These works are related to applications to atmospheric physics, planetology and laser photoexcitations. The analysis results are directly accessible through the TDS computing packages that are developed in the group.

A second research direction in the group concerns the theoretical study of collisional processes of interest for the atmosphere and astrophysics.

Let us for instance cite the full treatment of reactive colisions of type A + BC → AB + C that goes from the determination of the electronic potential energy surface (ab initio calculations + fits) to cross section calculations and rate constants (quantum dynamics thanks to a time-independent formalism based on hyperspherical coordinates).
