Antonio completed his studies at the University of Nice, including his PhD thesis in the context of the resonant three-wave interaction modelling stimulated Brillouin or Raman effects. After a Post-Doc at ULB (Brussels) in which he studied the dynamics of quadratic nonlinear waves, he obtained an associate Professor position at the University of Nice. At that time he started to work on the subject of nonlinear optics with incoherent waves, in which unexpeted intriguing effects have been predicted theoretically. Motivated by a close interaction with experimentalists, Antonio obtained in 2005 a full research position at CNRS in the SLCO group of Dijon. In this way he was able to start the theme of incoherent nonlinear optics owing to numerous national and international collaborations as well as the supervision of several PhD students and postdocs. This subject has reached a certain degree of maturation, especially with the development of a unified nonequilibrium thermodynamic formulation of statistical nonlinear optics (long-range wave turbulence in analogy with the Vlasov formulation of Gravitation, thermalization and condensation of nonlinear waves in analogy with the kinetic gas theory, spectral incoherent solitons in analogy with weak Langmuir turbulence in plasmas, or the breakdown of thermalization in analogy with the Fermi-Pasta-Ulam problem). Antonio co-authored more than 80 articles in peer-reviewed journal (including 15 Phys. Rev . Lett.), he has been invited to give more than 50 talks and was promoted research director in 2013 at CNRS.
