Bertrand Kibler received Master and PhD degrees from the University of Franche-Comté in 2003 and 2007 respectively. Between 2007 and 2009, he carried out post-doctoral research at the University of Bourgogne. In october 2009, he was appointed CNRS researcher at the Laboratoire ICB (University of Bourgogne, Dijon). In 2012 he received the CNRS Bronze medal for research activities in optics linked to hydrodynamics, in particular the first observation of the Peregrine soliton.

Research Interests

  • Fundamental optics: Ultrafast and coherent nonlinear optics, nonlinear optics of incoherent waves, “new” breather waves and extreme value phenomena linked to hydrodynamics.
  • Applied optics: Design and development of wideband light sources based on highly nonlinear fibers for telecommunications, biophotonics and mid-infrared sensing.
