  • Influence of Cr2O3 and/or Nd2O3 MOCVD thin films on the high temperature oxidation of chromia-forming alloys.


Five scientific topics have been developed on :

  • Study of high temperature degradation of metals and alloys in aggressive atmospheres at high temperature (chromia-, alumina-forming alloys, intermetallics, low Cr steels)
  • Coupling characterization tools to understand corrosion mechanism at high temperature (in-situ XRD, TEM, XPS, SIMS, SEM), use of isotopic markers in two-stage oxidation experiments in order to elucidate oxide scale growth mechanism at high temperature
  • Application of surface treatments on metallic substrates: thin nanostructured coatings by MOCVD and thick films by pack cementation
  • Ageing and degradation in complex atmospheres: study of corrosion by H2O vapour, S2 and H2S and chloridation at high temperature
  • Materials for energy and sustainable development: development of materials, coatings or technical solutions for turbines, nuclear power plants, solid-oxide fuel cells (SOFC), power plants.

This research work was performed in collaboration with PhD students (4 PhD thesis defended and 4 in progress), Master of Sciences students (10) and internships of students via French programs (19) or international exchanges (12).

The skills developed for more than 10 years in the area of high temperature corrosion allow to participat to national and European projects. Four projects are actually in progress:

  • Agency for National Research (ANR): THERMIDE, development of metallic solutions for nuclear power plants
  • European project: IDEAL-CELL, new design for mixed anionic-protonic fuel cells
  • French Agency for Environment (ADEME): PREPAC, development of high temperature chamber for reforming of fuels for SOFC applications
  • Agency for National Research (ANR): ICARE, new coated-materials for interconnects in High Temperature Electrolysis device for H2 production.

My scientific experience led me to being invited to more than 20 PhD thesis defences in France and abroad.
