Interdisciplinary Conference

Mathematics and Physics of Solitons and Integrable Systems -
Conference in honor of Vladimir B. Matveev's 65th birthday

Dijon, June 28 - July 2 – 2009

Organizers: Christian Klein (IMB), Hans-Rudolf Jauslin (ICB), Michail Semenov-Tian-Shansky (IMB)

This interdisciplinary conference is organized by the « Centre de Dynamique des Systèmes Complexes » together with the « Institut de Mathématiques de Bourgogne » (IMB, UMR CNRS 5584) and the « Institut Carnot de Bourgogne » (ICB, UMR CNRS 5209) at the University of Bourgogne in Dijon (France).

The modern theory of integrable systems is one of the most exciting recent developments in mathematics and physics. It has stimulated research in many domains of mathematics as in algebraic and differential geometry, and has provided new insights into these fields. At the same time it has many applications in physics such as fluid dynamics and optics. It is the aim of this conference to bring together experts in this field from mathematics and physics. The exchange of knowledge should inform the mathematicians of concrete applications of their theories in experiments and existing limitations of their applicability, and the physicists about the mathematical basis of the theories and recent developments.

MISGAM: "Methods of Integrable Systems, Geometry, Applied Mathematics", is an European Science Foundation (ESF) Scientific Programme aiming to establish and explore the bridge between geometry and applications of integrable systems to physics, applied mathematics and statistics.
